The Power of my Worship
God’s Majesty
1. Yahweh, our Sovereign God,
your glory streams from the heavens above,
filling the earth with the majesty of your name!
People everywhere see your splendor.
2. You have built a stronghold by the songs of children.
Strength rises up with the chorus of infants.
This kind of praise has power to shut Satan’s mouth.
Childlike worship will silence
the madness of those who oppose you.
Human Dignity
3. Look at the splendor of your skies,
your creative genius glowing in the heavens.
When I gaze at your moon and your stars,
mounted like jewels in their settings,
I know you are the fascinating artist who fashioned it all!
But I have to ask this question:
4. Why would you bother with puny, mortal man
or care about human beings?
5. Yet what honor you have given to men,
created only a little lower than Elohim,
crowned with glory and magnificence.
6. You have delegated to them
rulership over all you have made,
with everything under their authority,
placing earth itself under the feet of your image-bearers.
7-8. All the created order and every living thing
of the earth, sky, and sea—
the wildest beasts and all that move in the paths of the sea —
everything is in submission to Adam’s sons.
9. Yahweh, our Sovereign God,
your glory streams from the heavens above,
filling the earth with the majesty of your name!
People everywhere see your splendor!
Psalms 8 TPT (By King David)
To worship God is, in my opinion, the biggest honor and privilege that was gifted to us. I spoke about many things in the video about what worship is and the power it can have in our lives. I mentioned the fact that worship often bursts forth from within us, or overflows from us as a natural response to Who God is. And this is very true!
Yet, I would like to take a moment here and talk about something a bit different that I simply hinted in my video: the fact of choosing to worship God in the midst of our hardest storms.
These places are not those of overflow. Rather, they are the places where our worship becomes a choice and a decision from our part. Worshiping, praising and thanking God for Who He is and what He has done becomes hard and costly and complicated when we are in a place of deep and intense suffering, pain, fear, loss; a place where we don’t have anything left to give or offer. This form of worship costs us because in these moments, Worship is probably the last thing on our list of things we want to do, because we are crushed and empty. And yet …
The King David, who wrote most of the book of Psalms, fills pages with lament and supplication, often asking God where He is, why He seems so distant and silent and why His answers delay when his faithful friend and servant is in a place of danger, fear and agony… And yet, in most of his psalms, David often, if not always, finishes with worshipping Who God is and reminding himself of God’s Love and past faithfulness. He chooses to remember God’s faithfulness and Love in the middle of the fire.
Like I mentioned in the video, I’ve experienced many miraculous things in my hard moments when I chose to worship God rather than let fear, despair or pain drown me: miracles in my blood results, miracles in urgent and impossible medical circumstances, kind people at the right place at the right time, total shifts in plans and circumstances… the list could go on for a long time. Things shift in the spiritual realm, BUT, they can also shift in the physical! And yet, sometimes, nothing shifts, except for within me, where a deep sense of release and surrender from my part happens, and comfort comes and love and peace suddenly fill my soul. Things in me just calm down.
Our worship to God is mighty and powerful. It makes hell flee and shake with terror. It strengthens our being and it joins our soul to Jesus. It is a conscious positioning of who we are in the spiritual and in the physical. It a declaration from our parts to whom our allegiance belongs and goes to. It is a conscious submission from our part and reverence (respect) to God’s authority, Holiness and protection. It is a verbal declaration of our Love. It is a Most Holy Place!
Worship to me is also like a Love exchange between me and God; a deep and intimate place with Him. It’s a love song, filled with total surrender, words that bring Honour to Him and a heart posture of gratitude and reverence. God is so Pure, Holy, Beautiful and Good to me that worship is my whole life. He is so close to me and wonderful and deep that I want to be with Him; in His presence always!
“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”
Psalms 23:6 NLT
“One thing I have asked of the LORD, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the LORD And to meditate in His temple.”
Psalms 27:4 AMP
Man do I love the gift of Worship!
Practical ways to Worship God
I mentioned a few things in the video but I’d like to go a bit deeper in some points.
To Sing: studies are actually starting to show that singing, and singing with people is a powerful antidepressant and strengthens our body. The other thing about singing is that our mouths and our whole beings are actually speaking truth aloud! It is also a positioning of our minds and thoughts on Jesus, declaring that He is our King and our devotion goes to Him and to Him alone. This is why hell shakes! It’s a spiritual allegiance, celebration AND weapon! So… I think you get this point ;0)
Gratitude: I believe that a grateful heart is fertile ground for breakthroughs and miracles but also for a peaceful and a complete heart. But more than this, being grateful to God brings Him closer to us. It’s as if gratitude breaks down the walls we built that kept God away from us. These walls could look like bitterness, anger, pride, selfishness, complaining, impatience, fear … I believe gratitude is a demonstration of humility also. Speak and verbalize what you are grateful for to God, cultivate this habit and watch your life change. =0)
Live your life intentionally: I mentioned in the video that God rejoices over our existence: “The LORD your God is in your midst, A Warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy; He will be quiet in His love [making no mention of your past sins], He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” Zephania 3.17 AMP! knowing that I rejoice God’s heart by existing makes me seriously excited and exhilarating and makes ma want to be with Him more!!
To worship God could also look like honoring God with our whole life, our thoughts, our decisions, our words and behaviors, our work, our creativity, our hearts, our talents, how we treat people and what belongs to them. But it could also look like Trusting Him, confiding in Him, asking Him His will, His guidance, telling Him everything; it’s seeking Him with our whole heart and mind. All in all, it’s making God our Everything at every moment of our entire life. Simply put, it’s living with Him and for Him every second, because He is what matters most to us. That’s why! Because HE matters more.
Dear Friend, worship Him in the joys! Worship Him in the storms! He is always near!
This is the End of Mel’s stories for now! More will come in due time, but until then, my prayer is that my story can bless and encourage you! I pray it would give you a deep desire to Know God more and get close to Him again. And if this has blessed you, please share this story around you so that more people may find Jesus and Hope for their lives again!
I hope this blesses you!
With Love,
Mel
